Breathwork is on the rise. More and more people are discovering the effect of breathing on their health and well-being.
I conduct breathwork sessions for my colleagues at the Gumption office in Kontich. My colleague Jana Wuyts sat down with me for an interview. Find out more in this article!
I was invited by Benjamin Rashleigh to be on his Let me Take a Selfie Podcast.
"After being diagnosed with spondyloarthritis in 2015, Liesbeth was told “she would never be able to run again”. The inflammation in her body would prevent her from this kind of physical activity. After trying to suppress her symptoms with NSAIDs (which had no effect), she decided to take back control over her health by healing from within.
Liesbeth takes us through her journey on getting on top of her rheumatic pains. Enjoy the show!"

My friend Maaike Siegel has just launched her podcast The CO2 Lab! A podcast about breathwork 🤩
Maaike and I met at the Level 2 Breathwork Masterclass with Kasper van der Meulen earlier this year. I'm so excited about her podcast! In this podcast you'll discover ways in which breathing can help us optimize our sport abilities, stress, focus, sleep and even healing our own bodies.
In the first episode, I talk about how breathwork has changed my life. It has helped me overcome a rheumatic condition and has given me back control over my own happiness, health, energy,... my life.
Thank you, Maaike, for giving me this opportunity to share my story 💜 Can't wait for all future episodes!

Matthijs van Doesburg has gained a lot of knowledge in his journey of dealing with injuries, by exploring information about health, talking to experts, and experiencing.
Yesterday I had a talk with Matthijs in the context of my book. My book is full of stories of people who take control of their own health. Matthijs’ story is one of them.
He has been suffering from injuries in the past. Thanks to his open mind and exploration of what health really is, and by talking to experts and by experimenting and experiencing, he has found a way to heal himself.
I’m still a bit overwhelmed by his story and by all the knowledge he shared with me. He loves to share his knowledge with the world and he’s working on an online learning platform now where he will gather all his knowledge and the knowledge of many health experts. So that YOU can take control of your own health as well 🙏
Do you want to be inspired by Matthijs as much as I am? He’s sharing a lot of information here:

“Be courageous and live the life that your heart is guiding you toward” - Bronnie Ware.
In her book, “The Top Five Regrets of the Dying”, Bronnie Ware (a palliative carer) shares insights on the most common regrets of people nearing death:
1/ “I wish I’d had the courage to live a life true to myself, not the life others expected of me.”
2/ “I wish I hadn’t worked so hard.”
3/ “I wish I’d had the courage to express my feelings.”
4/ “I wish I had stayed in touch with my friends.”
5/ “I wish that I had let myself be happier.”
A 2018 study by Davidai et al. reached similar results. One of the authors’ tips is to think from the perspective of your older self: “spend a day taking the view as if you were 90. What would you want your biography to include?”
This is a very powerful exercise I practice regularly.
👉 Have you tried it yet? What would your 90-your old be telling you?
Today I went cold water dipping again with some fellow Wim Hof Method practicioners. Before going into the cold water, we had a great conversation about mindset. It’s one of the three pillars of the Wim Hof Method (next to cold therapy and breathing), and to me it’s the most important one! My mindset affects my commitment, my understanding, my experiences, my plan, my goals, my dealing with the cold,...
When we were in the cold water, a family was passing by. The children were so joyful and wanted to join us 😂 “Daddy, I want to go swimming too!” Dad’s response: “I don’t think so 😳🥶🥴”.
The children and the adult had a different mindset:
-they saw the cold water as it is: “just water”, something natural.
-they were curious and open minded: “there’s people swimming, in winter time? Why not, I want this too!”
-they were trusting: they saw us having fun and being relaxed, they trusted this is a fun thing to do.
-he was led by his (mis)conceptions of the cold: unpleasant, not fun at all, crazy.
-he had no open mind, did not consider the option that this could be a fun thing.
-he trusted his own (mis)conceptions instead of trusting what he saw: us enjoying being in cold water.
We need more of the children mindset 🙏
-be curious and open-minded.
-trust the process.
-be mindful, observe, experience.
What is your advice on mindset?
