MENTAL COACHING IN SPORTS
If you ask an athlete what makes the difference between "winning" and "losing" or what makes them reach the finish line, these are common answers:
"Pushing through despice pain and fatigue"
"Getting back in the game after a missed shot or failure"
"Maintain focus despite distractions"
"Being able to deal with stress and pressure"
These answers are all related to mental skills!
Still it seems that in training sessions not enough time is devoted to mental skills. If you ask an athlete how much time they spend on mental skills training, the percentage is often very low.
